Criticals

Any time at least one ``10'' is rolled, there is a chance for a Critical Success. The player, after finding the total, rolls one extra die and compares it to the Attribute Scale for the Attribute the Skill was based on(or just the Attribute he was using, for Attribute Rolls). If the die roll is less than or equal to the character's Scale, the result is a Critical Success, and the player adds his character's Scale to the result.

A Critical Failure occurs when over half the dice rolled, not counting Bonus Dice, are a ``1.'' If this happens, the player rolls another die. If that die is also a ``1,'' then the action automatically fails catastrophically. A weapon is dropped, the manuscript ruined, the rope breaks, etc. The only exception is the Karmic Success, below.
