Assign Priorities

Each character should begin with 7 Priority Ranks to assign, though this can be adjusted for a low or high-powered game. Ranks range from 0 to 4 across four groups. The player should assign a number of points to each group based on how important that group is to the character. The four areas are:

Attributes - The raw ability of the character.

Skills - The training and knowledge of the character.

Magic - The raw magical talent and ability of the character.

Special - The amount of unusual backgrounds, advantages, or unique training not covered by Skills.

Example: Nate continues with his swordsman. Taking his seven points, he puts 3 in Attributes, since he wants a well-rounded character with a good amount of talent. Next, he puts three points in Skills, giving his character a good amount of training. That leaves only one point. Nate doesn't want to fool with Magic for a basic swordsman, and debates boosting his Attributess, but decides to put the point into Special, so he can possibly buy some cool Techniques. Nate's final Priority Ranks are: Attributes 3, Skills 3, Magic 0, Special 1.
