Skills

The player is given a number of Skill Points, dependent upon the character's Skill Priority Rank. The player uses these to purchase Skills from the three different Skill Types.

Purchasing Skills: The cost in Skill Points to buy a Skill at a certain Rank varies depending on the type of Skill. Listed below are the costs for each Skill Type. The first cost is an incremental cost, when raising from the previous level to the given level. The second cost is the total cost when buying the Skill at that Rank outright. Skills cannot go above Rank 3 for starting characters.

1 3 3
2 6 9
3 12 21

Example: Nate knows he wants to be a swordsman, and has 90 points to spend. He spends 21 to get Swordsmanship at Rank 3, then starts to contemplate what else he should get. He decides to buy Trader's Tongue at Rank 2 for 6 points, and Alden at Rank 2 for another 6, thinking he should be able to speak to most of the southern continent that way. He also buys Brawling at Rank 1 for 3 points, Thrown Weapon Rank 2 for 9, and Archery Rank 1 for 3. He has now spent 48 points. He decides he should get Dodge at Rank 1 for 3, then stops with the Combat Skills. Moving on, he buys Awareness 1(2 points), Acrobatics 1(2 points), Cyphering 1(2 points), Heraldry 1(2 points), Survival 2(6 points), Savoir Faire 2(6 points), Read/Write: Altay 1(2 points) and Read/Write: Alden 1(2 points). Totalling so far, he's spent 48 + 27 = 75 points. He looks at the list some more, and buys First Aid 1(2 points), and Charm 1(2 points). Now he has 11 points for Trade Skills. He chooses Musical Instrument at Rank 3 for 7 points, along with Singing at Rank 2 for 3 points, and finally Cooking 1 for 1 point.
